How we help young people achieve their financial goals

Why financial education workshops?

Everyone has the right to enjoy financial wellbeing. Money matters affect everyone, and we exist to support more people in taking steps to enjoy financial wellbeing.

We do this through providing financial education workshops and producing content that supports further learning and advocates for young people’s economic interests.

Money Bites workshops have been shaped by co-design. The structure, content, and topics have been shaped by young people and evaluated in line with Australia’s National Financial Capability Strategy. We measure our progress based on the strategy’s Monitoring and Evaluation Framework.

We want every participant in our financial workshops to feel more confident about managing money, more motivated to set financial goals and feel more comfortable reaching out to trusted sources of information and support when required. We track this via our workshop impact.

Since 2019, Money Bites financial education workshops have reached hundreds of students across the ACT and Victoria.

Why Money Bites workshops?

We take a bite-sized approach to financial education that has been co-designed and iteratively improved with the young people we’ve supported since 2022. After attending our financial education workshops, participants feel more confident, motivated and more likely to take action to manage their money.

Money Bites Impact

Here's what we know about the impact of a Money Bites workshop with students.

Improved confidence

All students felt confident or somewhat confident about managing money after the workshop, improving from the third of students who felt unconfident before the workshop.

Improved motivation

Before the workshop, the number of students reporting that they felt motivated to achieve their financial goals was 53%, which grew to 78% after the workshop.

Know where to seek help

After the workshop, students were also more aware of when and where to get information and support and were more willing to seek financial help.
