Workers And The Work Environment Pt 2.
It’s time for part two, of my two part series on the workplace. This time I want to talk about the work environment. This post will be a bit shorter than my long post yesterday, so, you don’t have to worry about reading through a ton of text
The workplace
Improving your team can improve efficiency but as an employer if you create a better workplace for your employees, you will create a more motivated efficient team.
For this example, let’s use a made up case study. It is short and simple. Bob works two jobs, one job has a employee staff lounge and an X box for his breaks while the other has the old water cooler. Which job would Bob rather work in, if they are identical besides these factors.
If you guessed the job with the great staff room, you’re right! A job with better recreational facilities for employees will mean happier employees. Employees that are happy will generally work better than those that are unhappy.
So, with that in mind, what are some other things that you can do to your workplace to increase your employees (and if you’re self employed), your comfort and productivity at the same time.
But games, won’t that mean less productivity
If you’re self employed putting games next to you may decrease your productivity, that is true. That being said, in a communal workplace, there should be leisure time. The fact that you don’t want to get fired, and your peers are judging you should be eanough to put the most fun loving employee back to work. As an additional plus, if the games are a huge hit, isn’t it possible employees will work harder so they can get to break time faster?
And We’re Back…
So, besides games and a great rec room, what else can you do around the office to make your employees lives more comftorable and also increase your productivity?
Create an open work space - creating an open work space will help you make your employees feel free. Not being trapped in a cubicle can do wonders for the brain
Close the worker management gap - by making the workers feel they are just as important as the management, makes people more motivated to work. If you are a manager, or a CEO, get your managers (you), to become friendly and hospitable towards even the lowest worker. Remember, they are an important part of the team to.
So, I have to stop writing now to go pick up the phone and call the CEO of MarketLeverage, I’ll have that interview hot off the wire for you guys tomorrow. Keep your eyes pealed!
