Although it may seem common knowledge coupon codes can save you a ton of money. You just have to find the correct coupon code for the website or product you’re looking for and just like that, you’ve just saved a bundle! A handy little tool I’ve found for savings is RetailMeNot. It allows you to search for coupon codes out of a database and the ones you find can be very helpful.
Coupon/promotional codes can also help make you money. Codes for programs like Facebook Ads can give you a lot more “bang for your buck” and as a result help you earn more online (while spending less).
I want to use two examples to illustrate my point. By looking for coupon codes to save money, you are being “internet smart”. You aren’t throwing away money where you don’t need to and as a result can re allocate the usage of those funds for something else for your website (or just not spend it).
Example: Istockphoto (Saving Money Online)
Istockphoto is a large paid stock photography website. They have good quality images for a decent price. I had my eye on a couple pieces of photography from them for use on my blog.
Before I actually signed up to buy anything with them, I did a coupon code search. Low and behold I found a coupon code ‘DECK5FREE’ I got 5 free credits upon sign up. Let me remind you that I paid nothing to sign up but had just come into possession of five credits I would have had to pay cold hard cash for otherwise.
Subsequently these five credits covered all my stock photography needs (for now). The moral of this story is if you just look around, there are savings to be had. You know what they say, money saved is money earned!
Example: Facebook Ads (Earning Money Online)
A while ago I wrote a post about how to make money online for free using Facebook Ads. I won’t repeat the post but instead once again share the coupons with you. I used these coupons when I signed up and got $250 in risk free money to play around with in my Facebook Ads account.
Facebook coupon codes for $250 free in Facebook Ads:
*please note: there have been a few reports that some or all these coupon codes no longer work (I’d still try some/all of them out, especially the Visa Business Network one) but the point demonstrated still stands*
Facebook Coupon Code 1 ($50): T5V6-1JKV-TNH9-2MRH
Facebook Coupon Code 2 ($50): R1X5-0NH7-5FXW-5YEC
Facebook Coupon Code 3 ($50): 2JXY-WTFK-72Y0-VJ6Y
You can get an additional free $100 by joining the Visa Business Network. All these codes add up to $250 in free money in total.
I paid $0 for these codes but in exchange got $250 in credit. I actually made money using the free credit to promote affiliate offers. This is a short but sweet example to prove that searching around for promotional/coupon codes can easily help you earn online.
Wrap Up
There is such a thing as being too frugal. There is a certain point when if you can’t find coupons (usually after a couple minutes personally), it isn’t worth doing so. Unless I know there is a coupon out there that will save me a ton of money, the searching just becomes a waste of time.
The moral of the story is simple. If you can effectively search and find what you’re looking for, coupons can be a great way to save money online, or make money online. So, before you next sign up to buy something, do a quick search around the web, perhaps some nice savings (or earnings) are just a click away.

Here’s another tip:
Most web-hosting companies offer coupon codes that will save customers money, but make webmasters like us some money. I’ve done this with my web-hosting company and I’ve made over $800 just by giving out coupon codes.

Thank you for recommending a reliable database for coupon codes. In the past, I’ve attempted to Google search for certain offers and promo codes hastily, only to be assaulted by extreme virus-related unpleasantness on dubious websites. Never again. NEVER AGAIN!

Yes, I always do this - I’d say the coupons work about 25% of the time. Worth spending 5 minutes to take a look. I’d also suggest big-ticket discount programs for health and savings
@ Mike - I have heard they have expired, I wasn’t aware of this fact and am still uncertain, once I know I’ll let you know. The visa business network coupon should still work even if the others don’t
