I'm not an SEO ninja at all, so I am always picking up tips and tricks.
I must say, like forrest, that networking is my best traffic and produces the most quality readers. It never hurts when great pals throw in a plug :) ( I'll be sending you that meatloaf for the payment)

I am starting to realize that numbers aren't really where it's at, this was something was re-emphasized by Aaron Abber and something I always wondered about. I'd much prefer to have a high quality list of responsive readers, a "following" if you will, than to have huge list of people that probably don't even read the blog on a regular. I know those feedburner stats look good when they grow....I just wish there was more of a tracking mechanism so we could see how many are really active.

As far as SEO, I think it's all about getting in there and getting dirty, trying out new stuff mixed with the proven methods. Let us know how your SEO is going.....what types of methods are you using?

@ Forest - Agreed, SEO takes time, and you will see results as your sites get older. Article marketing can really help you out if you write great articles. My pleasure for the plug.

@ Jim - I want to see where my real traffic level is at instead of having it slightly over inflated and see where I really need to focus my efforts in terms of marketing this blog.

Keep up the good work. You don't need to cut out social media, just rely less on it to build traffic is all. Good to see you are taking a step in the right direction though :)

I am finding pretty good results when I use SEO tactics on my main website, but do not concentrate on it enough. I have trouble retaining SEO visitors and find that for my kind of blog networking works best.

For my newer sites (Google does not like them so much) SEO is a little harder, I have great terms but not the authority for Google to place me at the top for all of them....... need back links, I guess.

I have been reading a hell of a lot about article marketing recently and this seems like a great way to get those back links. The minute you (and me!) get a few decent quality backlinks, ratings in Google will sky rocket I am sure.

Thanks very much for the plug, it's always appreciated :)
