Mixx
Mixx is a growing social network that you can expect to see on the horizon in the near future. It is by far one of my favorite networks to use and brings me less traffic than other networks, but, the traffic is high quality. It is a better version of Digg that has a lot less spam (because of its smaller size).
Using Mixx![]()
Using Mixx is like using any other social network. Once you log onto the network you can Mixx someone’s submissions up or down. If you Mixx them up it gets towards front page and if you Mixx it down, it buries the article.
Using Mixx is easy to do and if have ever contemplated using Mixx and haven’t you should sign up now.
Also smaller networks like Mixx can be used to your advantage. The nice thing about Mixx is it takes a smaller amount of votes to get onto the front page and get increased amounts of traffic.
Adding friends is extremely easy. You can follow them and then they can follow you back. Friends look at the stuff you submit and can decide if they would like to read more about it.
I have found Mixx’s users to be more wholesome than those on other networks and it is definitely a great community to immerse yourself in. Being part of Mixx is one social networking choice I’m glad I’ve made from day one of joining.
Submissions wise, you submit an article’s URL, tag it, write a description and add it into up to 8 categories. Then you have 15 minutes to edit the article if you find any mistakes or want to make any changes.
Using Mixx To Get Visitors
Mixx is a lot easier to use or manipulate than StumbleUpon. Basically to get the upwards of 10 votes per item (it seems like few but in Mixx terms it is more substantial). What you can do is add 100 friends to your profile on Mixx. You can simply follower jump (finding new profiles using other peoples followers) into 100 accounts and add them. This may take a bit of time, but afterwards if you get a 30% ad back rate you are in business. Add a couple more friends a day and watch your network grow.
When you submit things your followers will read them and you may get Mixxes assuming your content is high quality content. What I do to build up my relationships with my followers even though I may have never talked to them is check out their content. I brick aside 20-30 minutes a day to read my followers stories on social networks and Mixx is one that always lets me read something interesting. Giving your followers votes up makes them more inclined to return the favor.
Overtime you will get known in the community if you comment and Mixx up people’s stuff and you will start to see your traffic catch on. On a good day of Mixxing I’ve seen my traffic be boosted by a ton of quality visits that have a much higher conversion rate to readers and commenters than any other social media website.
The one thing about Mixx readers are they are devoted to their community. I have found more Mixx readers comment on the Mixx submission than on the post I’ve written on the website. They like to keep things internal. So check back at least once a day when using Mixx to see if anyone is talking about you on there.
Wrap Up
Overall Mixx is a network I would advise to take for a spin. You should check it out and if you are using it I would love to hear what you think of it. While this network is still new there isn’t as much going on with it than Digg or StumbleUpon, but as it grows it could become quite a large network.
Stay tuned tomorrow for our post on Digg

mixx is an amazing looking site fir sure! But again it’s another typical site that allows anyone to submit anything they want!
Just another way for bloggers to get lost in the mixx
I’m not too sure what this site was even trying to do… See we already have digg.com so we don’t need mixx we need niche markets to allow for targeted traffic and mixx just doesn’t do it! It’s simply another wanna be digg site with nothing special about it!
Nice template, nice software but what else can I say… why would I go to mixx and not digg…
Understand what I’m saying?
As we sit here talking to our selves you must ask… how good is mixx… really?

@bbrian - Yeah, I do understand. A few reasons why Mixx over Digg. The size, due to a smaller size, Mixx is a much more tightly knit community. As a result you get a more personal feel and it doesn’t feel like the asylum (digg). That being said, also they have a better category structure and its easier to make front page and eek out traffic from Digg.
As Mixx gets bigger what I said may have to be re-evaluated but for time time being I feel it is a solid network.
That’s a good point, and probably the main reason we should use all the available social networking sites we possibly can in a day. Creating backlinks to each of our articles improves search engine rankings and indirectly generate free organic traffic.
Let’s say you submit articles to 5 of your favorite social networking sites. This activity will generate 5 extra links to your blog which are also getting cached with Google and other search engines sites. Not to mention you meet new people and gather in intellectual conversations helping each other improve what they’re doing.
Use them all it’s a win win

@bbrain - agreed, organic traffic is the best and anything we can do to increase it helps.
It is indeed a win win.
Max pointed me in the direction of mixx and I really have to say it is probably the big next up and coming social network social bookmark site its like the combo of stumble upon and reddit in one. Awesome find and thanks so much for sharing!
