Learn To Be Patient

In affiliate marketing, you need to know how to wait. Stuff takes time to get done and if you jump into something with a lack of data you can be in for a world of hurt. If you are instead patient and let data accrue, you can make informed decisions.

Honestly, its not about doing this super quickly to get them done, its about making informed decisions to make money. I strongly feel if you rush, you’re going to get sloppy and loose money (or money making potential) along with it.

I myself have thrown up a 80% done landing page or not taken the time to write a text ad fully. I’ve made decisions on what works based on too little data and I’ve paid the price. Usually what happens is you loose a bunch of money then have to go fix the problem or retrace your steps.

Instead get to a point where you have enough data. Finish that page so its perfect. Don’t leave things half cooked or give stuff enough time to play out. You’ll just be throwing away a perfect opportunity to make money.

Affiliate marketing is partially a waiting game and partially about getting stuff done. You just have to balance it out ;)

Blogger Spoofs

My good buddy over at TheNetFool has started a blogger spoof week. He discussed it breifly with me before he launched it and it will be hilarious. He has started with my good friend Joe. It’s honestly really funny. I’ve embedded the video below and you can view the full post here.

Test It Out

There is no one set path for anyone on the internet. What worked for someone might not work for someone else. It really depends on who you are and what you’re good at. There is an audience or path for you online that you can utilize to make money but you just have to find it.

If something isn’t working after you’ve given it some time. Test something else out. Move on! There are so many opportunities to make money online. You can find one that you love doing and are good at.

Say affiliate marketing via search isn’t working out for you. Maybe you should try marketing on Facebook or Myspace. Perhaps you should try getting offline clients and marketing for them based on a budget online.

The point is, if you’re unhappy try a new space online out. Who knows it could be the one for you. But if you just sit at home and don’t test it out, you will never know. That new space could be extremely profitable. If you think there is a chance you’ll like something online try it.

I was talking to someone today that was spitting out all sorts of ideas for what he could do with his online efforts. My best advice for him was to just go for it and test. The worst that can happen is you fail, pick yourself up and keep going. As they say “no pain, no gain”!

The beauty of the internet world is the overhead to start up is virtually nonexistent in most cases. In what other place could you start a business just for a domain and hosting. With virtually no barrier to entry and ease of starting up, trying different online businesses are a viable option more people need to explore. Not everyone succeeds on their first time. I’ve failed plenty of times in my career online, I’m not afraid to admit that. You do have to pick yourself up after those failures and move along. Use them as a learning experience to fuel and build your next online venture. It just starts with a small step in that direction (testing) and who knows, it could just make you a bunch of money ;)
