Never Be Afraid To Ask For A PayBump On An Affiliate Offer
All affiliate networks start their offers out on something they call a “street payout”. What this is, is the payout that anyone that joins the network gets for promoting the offer. It is the default price you see when logging into the network as a new affiliate (it is called a street price, because it is the price you get when you walk in from the “street” and first look at the offer).
This being said, there is no reason in the world why even the smallest affiliate has to settle for the street price. Affiliate networks have margins. As an network they want to maximize margins, so they do this by offering you less and taking more.
By talking to your affiliate manager and requesting a paybump you can get more money per lead or sale on your offers. It is as simple as just saying that you want a paybump from them on an specific offer. This not only allows you to make more money per sale/lead but also allows you to perhaps be profitable in an area that was unprofitable before the bump.
For example, if you’re making $0.20 cents a click on a certain CPA offer and spending $0.25 a click to do so, you’re loosing money. That being said, even a 10 cent pay bump on the same offer, can be the different between loosing $0.10 per lead and making $0.05 a lead. While before you were loosing money, after your paybump you’re campaign turned from running at a loss to running at a profit.
To give you the bump, the network simply dips into their margins a bit to give you more so that you are more inclined to run the offer with them. This is because, if they don’t give you it and you don’t run the offer with them, they make nothing. If they give more and you run with them, at least they still make some money.
This being said, if one network won’t give you a paybump, shop around. See what else is out there and if you can get the offer at a higher payout and then come back to the network with this information (at this point they’ll either bump you because they want to stay competitive in the industry, or truly can’t pay you any more because their “margins” are too slim). If it’s purely a cash thing, most networks will try and match at least what others are giving to keep you on as an affiliate.
Affiliate managers understand that paybumps will be asked for and they will try and accommodate you if you ask. So in all seriousness, just go and ask for one, you’d be surprised what they can do for you and your profits.

Great info Max, I’d imagine not many people realize that this is even possible. I’ve heard about it, but thought it was simply for the super affiliates, this a great info to have in the knowledgebase.
Interesting topic. I look forward to reading more of your content on your blog.
I was never aware of this paybump until now.
