Make Money Online Free With Affiliate Offers And Blog Commenting

A lot of you don’t have a lot of money to spend when trying to earn online (or you don’t want to spend a lot). As a result, I’d like to reveal a tactic that I have seen used by a few people to make a bit of free money online using affiliate offers.

affiliate marketingThere are a few tools that you will need to do this. One is an affiliate offer to promote, you can do this by grabbing a offer that you think will do well from one of the many CPA companies (for example, MarketLeverage) out there. For this strategy I prefer free offers that require not that much time to fill out (usually short form/lead). The other thing you may want, but is optional, is your own domain name. The domain doesn’t REALLY matter that much and could be a dot info if you don’t have that much money (you can get them for around $2).

The strategy I’m talking about is blog commenting for affiliate leads/sales (please note: I am not directly promoting blog spam with this post, I do state numerous times your comments should give something back to the blog and be of a high quality. I in no way shape or form, endorse or like blog spam, so if you’re a spammer, stop reading now  ). The basic premise of the idea is that you drop comments on blogs in the same niche as your offer to get clicks through (but the key here is you must offer real quality comments that add to the blogs discussion instead of “spam” comments). The clicks then will hopefully complete your offer (a % eventually will), netting you some money. Below, I will describe the steps to take to do this effectively and efficiently.

The Steps

The first thing you’re going to do is pick an offer. For this example, lets just say I picked an offer that was related to making money online. I would personally also buy a domain (many bloggers use Akisment which kills affiliate links but not domain names most of the time) and create an I frame or redirect inside that domain to the offer (I will fully elaborate on this below).

The next thing I would do is create a list of the most prominent blogs in the make money online niche (or the niche of the offer that you picked). I would want blogs with lots of readers (hence more views in the comments section), that show some real potential (more readers is equal to more possible conversions on the offer you are promoting). A couple big blogs spring to mind, but there are tons that could be chosen.

What you would then do is try to get within the first 3 or so comments for each blog (on any new posts) and submit a quality comment. By quality comment, this means a comment that contributes to the blog discussion and adds value.

affiliate marketingThere are two reasons why you would do this. The first is to give back to the blogger for writing a post, and to contribute to his/her blog (you should not be commenting all the time for the only purpose of getting a lead, but instead trying to contribute something useful and gain leads at the same time  ). The second is that great comments provoke a better response. If people read a good comment they’re more apt to go and check out the website that the name links to (this can also be used for driving more traffic to your website or blog).

The comment name shouldn’t be to flashy or spammy. It shouldn’t be, “click here now” or the like, but rather just a normal link (so something like a name).

The reason that I personally would buy a domain if I did this is so that my comments weren’t viewed as spam. If someone just saw a pure affiliate link in the comment they might see it as spam. Many bloggers wont bother to check, and those that do won’t go and look at the domain if it isn’t an affiliate link (they have to much to do, like me  ).

What this does is deliver targeted clicks to your affiliate offer that will hopefully convert (turn into sales or signups that will make you money). This is making you money for nothing. Commenting on the blogs takes nothing but time (and very little of it). You can either hover around the blog waiting for the next post, or try and distinguish a posting pattern. There are some alerters that people use to tell them when new posts have gone up (don’t know any off the top of my head) so this is an option as well.

Some people may view this as spamming, but as long as you’re giving back to the blog with a good comment it shouldn’t be a problem.

I’ll leave you guys off with a sneaky underhand trick to get your comments to the top of the blog, even if you aren’t the first commenter. Most blogs that are large use threaded comments. By replying to the first comment, your comment will show up at the top of the comments section achieving the original purpose without having to hover around the blog forever

Hope you guys enjoyed that. I will yet again state: I am not directly promoting blog spam with this post, I do state numerous times your comments should give something back to the blog and be of a high quality. I in no way shape or form, endorse or like blog spam. This is but one of many techniques that you utalize can make money from for little or no investment….

replying to the first comment is a nice tactic. but if you still want to be the first (or one of the first) to make a comment on a post, and potentially benefit the traffic it may come, then you could use comment sniper to your benefit :)

It’s a good idea, but 90% of bloggers are using Akismet… and you are going to get immediately picked off by their servers if you are using an affiliate link into some other website.

Nice try tho ;)

I have a feeling that some popular blogs won’t enjoy being taken advantage of, even if you’re comment adds value to the conversation. However, I will try this method, starting right now… (click my link)

@ Kam - agreed, but not everyone wants to do that, or have to be tied down to a website, I’m purely providing another option (some may enjoy doing it), or it could supplement income for people that already do it without a site.

@ Rajaie - That is why you have to try and add something useful, as long as you aren’t post 100 comments a day, most blogs won’t care that much, esp if they see you are adding something USEFUL, let me stress the importance of the USEFUL part. But you’re right, some might….

@Yahoo Web Hosting - Yeah, that’s why I yet again stress the importance of USEFUL and THOUGHTFUL comments. You are just utilizing what is there and instead of linking to one site are linking to another (which is an aff page)

This is a great tip… and I noticed some people commenting in my blog with a linkback to their referral links. Sometimes, when I can see that it is obvious spam, I rejected it.

@ Hye - as do I but, I have no problem with comments that add discussion and the links are for their personal benefits

@ BB - :D cheers

@ Muneeb - some may view it as spamming, but as I stated numerous times, I in no way encourage spamming. It is just one of many ways that you can make a buck…

Good stuff as usual Max. This is not spamming at all…unless you just go over and say “good post” lol. This is using the blog network efficiently. As long as you are adding great content….you should be fine.

I think this could be a neat idea… it’s definitely a quick lunch money trick and not really good for long term. Maybe it would work great for someone like Normal Joe for promoting his NEW $5 MEMEBERSHIPS site….. which is a great site idea by the way :)

This has got to be one of the best idea I have come across today but I guess moderation is needed when it is applied lest it will become spammy in no time.

Very informative post. It makes sense to not to use affiliate links while commenting on blogs.
