Make Money Blogs Are Not The Way To Make Money With Blogs
A lot of people go into make money blogging and start their own make money blog, for the sole purpose of earning online. That is fine, but what a lot of these people don’t realize is this is a tough niche. It is saturated and there is stiff competition for readers.
They see people like John Chow or ShoeMoney earning online and think, “hey why don’t I do that!”. They then create their own make money online blogs to try to replicate this. What they don’t realize is they could be earning much more writing for another niche.
If they wrote about a niche such as a blog on auto warranty, or say medical care, they would be able to do less work, write less often and probably make more because the niche isn’t as crowded with blogs.
If you don’t believe me, look on Entrecard. At the time of me writing this there are 864 make money online blogs, and almost 500 internet marketing blogs. Compare this to some of the other niches such as home and garden which only has 130 blogs in it. Now which do you think you could crack into and probably earn from easier.
If you guessed home and garden you are right! There are a ton of affiliate offers on CPA companies (I personally recommend MarketLeverage), that you could use to earn from your blogs.
This is excluding CPC such as Google Adsense, Bidvertiser and many other companies that can earn you a pretty penny a day from targeted clicks. A lot of people think make money online is the only niche where they can really make a lot of money online with a blog. They are wrong!
That being said, I can see a skeptic or two jumping on the bandwagon and saying, “Hey don’t you do the thing (write a internet marketing/make money blog) that you are ranting about?” I do but there is a difference. This blog exists to make money sure, but it is not my main earner, and I like doing this. I have a lot of knowledge to share and have no problem doing so. I don’t expect this blog to make $100,000 a year, and don’t expect it to (at least not yet
). If I wanted to make money quickly online I would not have come into this niche to do so.

Tell me about it…. I am not running a specific make money blog but it features a lot of that kind of thing…… earnings are pretty much 0!!
Great post.
Forests last blog post..Darren Rowse Hates Cats… But Full Tilt loves them…
Precisely. I run quite a few blogs, but I find the “make money” ones are actually the hardest to grow, because there’s so much competition.
Ah well… I intend to sell mine eventually anyway

very true indeed. I personally think that make money blog should be used as a way to document one’s earnings, achievements etc. in internet marketing and their process of learning.
However, make money online blog could be lucrative if monetized properly.

I agree. My blog is about the kind of topics, but I knew that it was going to be really tough even before I started, so I’m not really disappointed because I didn’t earn thousands of dollars my first day.

FINALLY… someone else has figured out the fact that the big bloggers don’t necessarily make all their money from their “bragging blogs” aka personal blogs… they have other blogs/websites they hardly ever mention (in fear of copy cats) that generate alot of their money for them… I learned this fact early on in the game.. (ex: shoemoney has his ringtone sites) I used to bank roughly $8k+ a month around this same time last year.. however I since then got my Adsense acct taken away and have yet to get another LLC to plan out my money making concepts… however I will tell you this… do a little RESEARCH!!! you can make tons of money if you do anything geared towards finance (ex; mortgages, personal loans, debt, etc…) they pay the best in Adsense and when it comes to the affiliate marketing part of the plan.. (ex; CJ, Linkshare, Shareasale, etc…) some affiliates pay in a range of $10 - $35 per application that is filled out… now if you were to market your sites the right way.. BOOYAH you are then banking! well for now that is all I have.. awesome post on this subject though!!!

A well written article with good original content. Thanks
I have to agree with you. I started my blog almost 2 years ago now and while it started out as specifically a Make Money Online blog it has now progressed into something a little different. I focus more on ways that you can Work At Home with Mystery Shopping or Affiliate Companies that they can use to become an Entrepreneur. I also use my blog as a promotion tool for my websites and blogs.
@ forest - Thanks buddy
@ Paul - Yeah, but to sell it needs to be worth something, I think you’ll find niche sites are easier to build and can earn more in the short term.
@ Desmond - It can be if you actually can get the readership. That being said, anything is lucrative if monetized properly.
@Rajaie - So many people are, a lot quit that first day. Be a winner, stick it out!
@ androo- Agreed, you can earn a ton in almost any niche if you do some good research!
@ james - np buddy
@ Dena - Agreed, sub niches of MMO are still free but if you open up shop with the MMO slogan it won’t go so well. Good work
I hear ya man….for me, my mmo blog isn’t really my place to make money. If that makes sense lol, it’s more for documenting my progress, helping others and anything else related to mmo. But, I don’t look to it for my main cash, it’s just my hub, my online persona, my “homebase” so to speak.
I hear people say it’s a hard niche, and you hear internet marketers say the same thing. Honestly, it’s one of the most profitable niches, if you know what to do…..it has all the makings of a highly successful niche. Yes there is competition, but, there is also ample people coming into the niche seeking info.
Anyway, yeah, I agree, I love blogging because it’s fun, the people I meet through my blog and the others I read have been awesome. You can make money with a MMO blog, but like you say it takes time. And if that is your main goal, it may hinder your growth because you will be focused so much on making money, that you lose or turn away readers.
Okay, I’m rambling a bit, so let me end it.

Yup, and I have proof behind this… but I’ve been constantly preaching the fact that people shouldn’t start a MMO blog…
Now, I’m not saying it’s impossible, just over saturated…

I don’t think it’s that hard to start a successful blog about making money. Just choose a sub niche. For example I blog about facebook social ads 90% of the time. This allows me to fill a gap within the make money online niche that is not talk about very often.

@ JK - It’s fun depending on who you are. It is hard work but it pays off if you know your stuff….
@ Jay - agreed 100%.
@ Neil - Yup, but thats a sub niche, I’m talking general MMO blogs…
I believe the only real way to make money from blogging is affiliate links and adsense sales.

I agree it is a very competitive field. I have a blog focused on free ways to earn money online. There are so many others just like mine and I am trying to use seo strategies. What are your suggestions for this type of blog?
