Four Things New Make Money Online Bloggers Have In Common
What are four things most new and a few older make money online bloggers have in common?
Well being in the same niche doesn’t count, so lets just get past the semantics and see what I’m really talking about:
*before this list please note that this applies to a majority of bloggers in the niche but not all, there are always exceptions to the rule*
- They recycle content – I can’t tell you how many times I’ve gone to new blogs and seen the topics that are posted about on them the exact same ones I read on the bigger blogs a day to a week before. They don’t come up with original content, they recycle the old content because it’s either easier, or they don’t know what they’re talking about.
- They spam affiliate links – They feel this is the best way to earn through their blog. Instead of giving their readers quality content. They lie to their readers convincing them that the affiliate product is the best, and then take advantage of their readers trust and good nature by selling them a sub par product and taking commissions. What they don’t realize is that once a reader realizes they’ve been screwed, they won’t be coming back and it will have a negative “feedback” effect on your blog (all their friends will be hesitant to read it or will just straight up not even consider reading your blog).
- They don’t make money – A majority of new bloggers don’t make money from their blogs or have not made much money online before launching their blogs. They come into the industry looking for a fast buck and see the big bloggers and think it’s easy. As a result they disillusion their readers into thinking they are hot stuff by writing about making money while earning none.
- They have a picture of a check, car or some other symbol of wealth – Now this isn’t a bad thing so to say, but it gets tiring. When I go to new blogs, I find a picture of a car of a big check (that may have been Photoshoped), it automatically makes me want to leave. Unless they have some other factor that keeps me there, I will go. Honestly, symbols of wealth are all good if you have them and can prove it. But if you stick up some fancy car, readers will think, “oh no, not another generic make money online blog!”
If you’ve been thinking of starting another make money online blog, or own one, take a look at it and what you’re doing. You may not be doing it consciously, or are just following the pack, but remember, diversity is what sets you apart and makes you unique, and will eventually lead you to money through blogging.

The car thing isn’t THAT ubiquitous, but the other ones are definitely true. Yawn. It’s so stale now.
But yes, very good observations. The content recycling is making the niche very, very unappealing.
The niche is appealing to bloggers because if you do well in it, the money is huge, but its unappealing to readers because of all the garbage bloggers you get
The content recycling is boring and honestly, its not easy work to write great content.
I wonder how long it will be before I start seeing my content repackaged…
I agree with you Mattaw, which I was I mainly come here. You give a little spin and uniqueness that I think a lot of new make money bloggers could, and should, learn from.
I agree i think having a Pic of your car or check is really lame i mean come on only if your john chow or shoemoney then its ok haha ~Nick~
yes thats true.
Most of MMO blogs have same things in common
I hope they come out with different ideas instead of copying each other.
Those are some good points. Personally, I’m tired of ‘make money online’ type of blogs. People should find a topic they like and blog about it instead (making money in the process of course) - instead of concentrating on making money from the beginning (and failing since no one reads their blog).
Oh wow, someone from this niche broke the silence, nice lucid analysis my friend.

Okay, time to respond to everyone
@Jon - Thanks buddy
@Nick - After they did it, everyone copeid, orignailty gone, if you’re not original you get the effect of diluting the niche with CRAP!
@Blog - We’ll see, as I said there are always exceptions to the rule.
@Andrew - If you really do what you love, you will eventually earn from it in the end. These bloggers see the niche as a quick way to get rich. Personally, I love what I blog about and wouldn’t trade the world for it.
@Ted - Aha, I wonder how many secretly agree with me.
Hello Mattaw,
nice review and opinion. as newbie, at first I think its easy to get money online.
but, I realize make money online and in the real world is same. you need heart to run the business:)
Layong, earning online can definitely be done but you need heart, perseverance and a love for what you are doing
Yeh, I wrote a similar post, but focusing on the IM niche. I just think it’s funny that so many people believe that writing about making money online will actually achieve that goal, without some kind of projects actually on the go (the blog should always be secondary to the “real” work going on)!
Look at the top “make money online” bloggers - they aren’t just sitting there writing a blog, they are doing other things too. Those who do just focus on their blog, won’t be around for too long.
You should be blogging to share your own knowledge, experience, expertise, and opinions with others. The problem is that a lot of make money online bloggers have none of the above in their arsenal.
Trying to write about making money online, as your main means of income on the web, makes about as much sense as trying to run a marathon with your shoe laces tied.
untied you mean Simon
Well yeah, a blog shouldn’t be your main focus unless you’re someone like JohnChow. Even then, he still has time for side projects as well as managing his monster blog.
The point is, blogging to make money, by blogging about making money, doesn’t work for most people, but yet the niche is over saturated….
Actually, I meant tied together lol.
But the fact still stands - if you’re not producing revenue online already, you shouldn’t be starting a make money online blog. Once you’ve gone away, researched and executed way(s) to generate revenue (look at Paul from uberaffiliate.com as a good example), then come back and start the blog.
Yup, this not only gives you a better ground to claim to be an expert and draw peoples attention in with, but it also gives you more legitimate things to talk about. You can talk from experience rather than talking about things you don’t know that much about.
