When blogging, I expect people to type quickly and not check for simple typos and grammar errors. It would streamline the conversation if people would keep their comments on the subject of the blog post, not the grammar of it, unless grammar is the topic of the blog

PS. You have a homophone error in this blog entry:

“I would point it out but not say something like _their_ stupid.”

Should be “they’re.”

@ Moneymaking Studies - Absolutely agreed. If you give, you get. If you maintain yourself as a positive contributing member of a community, you’d be surprised what can happen.

I’ve seen this happen to often in forums and blogs
were people are at each other’s throats with harsh
language and character slanging. In the end most of
these posts are deleted by moderators and the
culprits responsible banned.

I think those who wish to maintain good relations with others online avoid such posts and provide positive feedback to
whatever subject is posted at that time. These are the sorts
of people you may want to keep in your forums ‘buddies list’
and reply to their posts.

They in turn would reply to yours and most probably with the positive feedback that you would like to here.

Haha, well I had a lot more fun reading Scarce’s View On The World than anything else Good article, despite the hate. It might be a little generic, but it is definitely a reasonable idea being pitched.

the most constructive advice for this is cut everything and write “Follow the Golden Rule” and “Be kind to your neighbor”
You will affirm and warm the hearts of all the righteous peeps out there and you will have said exactly the same thing without wasting anyone else’s time better spent Stumbling.

I normally don’t say much about a persons blog. I tend to stay on topic but if I do provide constructive criticism I would have to agree with Mattaw and provide it with proper etiquette.

@ Swoops - Yeah, many of them are, or to create some buzz to a persons website. I don’t delete flame comments like that because those people don’t get a backlink for commenting either. I just delete the link…

@ Scarce - Point taken, but you can always hope that those people that do say bad things may take this article to heart and change their ways. So, it actually isn’t a waste of time….

A) The people who need to be told to “be civil” because they attack typos and opinions don’t give a shit about what they are responding to… They are anonymous cowards who get a laugh @ belittling weak posers.

B) The people who take your article to heart are already socially conscious and don’t need the advice.

I agree, I always look at those slick type of comments as nothing more than a way to get a backlink.

Constructive criticism is always a good thing, and I always welcome it, but nonsense remarks simply get deleted….now, if you call me dumb but explain why you think that………I’ll let it roll
