Are You A Dreamer or A Doer?

In the online world, there seem to be two general types of people. There are the doers and the dreamers. What I hope to achieve with this article is show you the difference between the two and possibly spark a desire in some dreamers that will make them become doers!

The Dreamers

dreamerThe dreamers are the people online that sit there and do nothing. They may write about how they could have made a lot by doing something, only if they had done it, or just sit there soaking up knowledge.

The point is they aren’t doing stuff, they are just dreaming about what could be done. These are the people that you’ll find sitting around a table when they’re older telling all their friends that they could have been rich.

They may have big dreams but never do anything about them. These are the kind of people who could be successful if they tried but due to one or more factors (such as being lazy, easily distracted or a similar reason) aren’t successful online for the simple fact that they don’t do anything. It’s all well and good to say you’re going to do something or you have a great idea, but when push comes to shove the people that actually put those ideas into action are the ones that make it.

The Doers

managerThe doers are the people online that are exactly like the name sounds. They do things! They take those ideas that they have in their head and put the work in to make them a success. They stop reading and start testing and as a result learn more than reading ever could teach them.

Honestly, there is only so much you can read or think before you have to go and do something. No one successful got there by sitting on their bum and just thinking all day while doing no work.

In this business, if you’re a doer the chances are you’ll be doing a lot better than all those dreamers down the road. Guess what, you have the courage to get out there and try stuff out and for that you all deserve kudos :D

Dreamer or Doer?

So which one are you guys? Do you sit around all day and dream or get up and do stuff. If you’re the first type (dreamer) get going. Test out some of those ideas and start doing stuff, you’d be surprised what can happen!

I’ve definitely made myself a doer in the past couple of days. I’ve dipped my feet in the ppc affiliate marketing pool and not had much success yet, but I’m gradually defining my keywords and starting to make some money. I’m actually glad I invested a little bit of money to get my affiliate marketing going!

I used to be huge dreamer. I always thought of making these awesome news portals in a whole lot of niches. Unfortunately, I kept on dreaming for like 3-4 years until I found myself wasting a whole lot of time. Now, I’m more of a doer. I make a plan on what I need to get done that day and try to do them all before I dream again, while sleeping of course! ;)

Well said, Mattaw. I agree with you completely. A lot of people interested in making money online can do so if they work to make money online. As you pointed out, you just have to stop dreaming, and use a little elbow grease. Great post!

I have been very much a dreamer up until recently…. now, I try and get things done but am just learning how to organize myself…. my big problem is too many projects all running at once.

I really need to work through and get my list down so I can “Do” some of the big ideas that I have.

I’m a doer, in fact I often lose time and money initially because I’m a premature doer sometimes. lol. I like to get my hands dirty ad test the things I read/learn to find out if I like it and/or think I can do it.

I’ve been caught staring into the monitor and dreaming here and there though as well. I think dreaming is ok as long as it’s taking up less than 10% of your time. Sometimes those dreams turn into good ideas……if you’re a doer. ;)

Great post
Cheers!

I believe that I’m a doer. :) I want to share a quote with all of you. “Some people dream of success while others wake up and work hard at it.” I don’t know who made that quote up, but it has inspired me throughout my internet marketing journey.

I’m both, sadly. “If you continue to do what you’ve always done, you’ll continue to get what you’ve always gotten.”

Yeah, Yeah…

I used to be much more of a dreamer then a doer. In my time of “dreaming”, I did a lot of research - mostly because in those times of “dreaming” and doing research, I was trying to find stuff to keep myself busy without feeling guilty about doing work for myself while getting paid to “work” somewhere that politics prevented me from being kept busy during my working day.

I had a boss once who believed that “learning is doing” which is so true. It’s one thing to “learn” by reading - it’s something else to learn by actually applying that knowledge.
